Bespoke software development
Bespoke software development is YAVA designing and building software to fit a specific operation, then deploying and supporting it. We build web and mobile applications, operational platforms, portals and APIs for organisations whose systems have to work in demanding, sometimes remote, conditions.

Problems we are brought in for
When bespoke is the right answer.
Off-the-shelf that nearly fits
A product that forces the operation to change to suit the software, and never quite covers the part that matters most.
Pilots that do not survive the site
Software that works in a demonstration but fails against real data, real users and real connectivity at the asset.
No one accountable after go-live
A build team that leaves at launch, so when something breaks there is no one who understands the system.
What we build
The systems we deliver.
We build the software an operation runs on, not showcase projects. Each of these is delivered on its own or as part of a wider system.
Web applications
Operational and client-facing web systems, built for real workloads, real data and users who are doing a job, not evaluating a demo.
Mobile and field apps
Applications for field teams and operational staff, including for shared devices and intermittent connectivity.
Operational platforms
Systems that run a live operation day to day, bringing workflow, data and integrations into one place with a clear audit trail.
Portals
Controlled access for clients, partners and field teams to the information and actions they need, and nothing else.
APIs and cloud-native services
Well-documented APIs and services that let your systems connect cleanly and scale predictably.
Software modernisation
Bringing ageing software up to date in stages, reducing risk and cost without a single high-risk rewrite.
How we deliver
Delivery.
We work in short cycles from discovery to support, with continuous delivery rather than one high-risk hand-over. You see working software early and often, and the system is deployed and supported by people who built it.
How it connects
Integration.
Software is built to connect. It integrates with your existing IT, operational technology and data through the same integration capability YAVA uses across the estate, so it becomes part of the operation rather than another island.
Every system is documented and handed to a team that can run it. Where you want it, that team is us, against agreed service levels including 24 hour cover.
Where we apply it
Relevant sectors.
Applicable experience
Evidence.
A national aviation authority needed revenue recorded and reconciled accurately and supported around the clock. YAVA built and deployed the system, integrated it with existing systems, and supports it in operation.
YAVA does not publish invented clients or results. Confidential work is described by sector, region and year, with accurate technical detail.
FAQ
Common questions.
Do you build bespoke or configure existing products?
Both. We build bespoke software where it is justified, and configure or integrate existing products where that is the better answer. The requirement decides, not what we prefer to sell.
What technologies do you use?
We choose technology to fit the requirement and the environment it will run in, rather than applying one stack to every problem. Where you have existing systems and skills, we take them into account.
Can you take over software built by someone else?
Yes. We assess, stabilise, modernise and support software originally delivered by others, including where documentation is thin or the original team has gone.
Do you deploy and support what you build?
Yes. We deploy at the asset and provide application support and continuous improvement afterwards, including out of hours where an operation requires it.
Where is the software built?
Much of the engineering is done from our Technology and Innovation Centre in Kolkata, with design, deployment and support close to the client and the asset.
