YAVA is a veteran-friendly company and works with experienced former military personnel, including veterans of the British and Indian Armies, who support our work in complex and high-risk environments around the world.
Why it fits
The environments we work in are familiar to service leavers.
A large part of our field team has served in the armed forces. They are used to working under pressure, in unfamiliar and hostile conditions, with limited power, connectivity and local support. That experience maps directly onto the sites we deploy to.
How experience transfers
Where military experience is relevant.
These are areas where service experience often maps onto YAVA's work. Military experience is not required for all roles.
Field engineering
Installation and commissioning at the asset, often in demanding conditions.
Infrastructure assessment
Inspecting sites, testing controls and understanding how a failure could happen.
Security technology
Surveillance, access control, sensors and command and control systems.
Operational planning
Sequencing complex deployments around live operations.
Project delivery and logistics
Getting people and equipment to difficult places, on time and compliantly.
Communications and technical training
Networks and connectivity, and training the people who will run the system.
We do not guarantee interviews, and we do not state membership of a formal scheme or the Armed Forces Covenant unless and until that is confirmed by YAVA. If you are a service leaver or reservist, the honest route is a conversation and an expression of interest.
