Humanitarian and international organisations

Overview

YAVA builds and supports payment, identity and operational systems for humanitarian and international programmes, delivered under sanctions, constraints and difficult conditions.

UN agencies, NGOs, multilateral programmes and international operators.

Humanitarian and international organisations operational environment

The environment

What this setting is like.

Humanitarian programmes run in low-resource, high-risk environments where connectivity is poor, compliance requirements are strict, and the people the system serves cannot afford it to fail. Technology has to be robust, accountable and deployable in the field.

Risk and resilience

In humanitarian settings, a failed system has human consequences. We design for resilience, accountability and operation in the field, not for ideal conditions.

Operational and technical challenges

Where it goes wrong.

  • Payment and identity systems that must work in low-connectivity environments
  • Sanctions, compliance and audit requirements
  • Field deployment in difficult and remote conditions
  • Systems that must be accountable to donors and auditors

Systems we work on

What YAVA can assess, design, integrate, build or support.

The mix depends on the asset. YAVA is an integrator, not a single-product vendor, and selects equipment against the requirement from a vetted supplier network.

  • Payment and reconciliation systems
  • Identity and registration systems
  • Operational and field platforms
  • Resilient connectivity and infrastructure
  • Field engineering and support

How YAVA delivers

Delivery.

We build systems for the conditions they will run in, deploy them in the field, and support them. Work is delivered with the audit trail and compliance that donors and auditors require.

One accountable team

Advice, build, integration, deployment and support come from one team, so there is a single point of accountability for the whole environment.

FAQ

Common questions.

Can you deliver under sanctions and compliance constraints?

Yes. We have delivered payment and identity systems for multilateral programmes under sanctions and operational constraints.

Can systems work with poor connectivity?

Yes. We design for intermittent connectivity and field conditions rather than assuming a stable network.

Can your engineers reach remote and high-risk sites?

Yes. A significant part of our field team is used to working at remote and difficult sites in demanding conditions with limited support.

Do you work around live operations?

Yes. We plan and deploy around live operations so that services and throughput continue while work is carried out.

Who supports the systems once they are live?

The team that delivers the work also supports it, with service levels including out-of-hours cover agreed in advance.

Can you work within our compliance and procurement rules?

Yes. We deliver inside existing frameworks and under the applicable compliance, data and, where relevant, export-control requirements.
